View!, first Brunello, keto sacrifices

After breakfast, taxied to Hertz; after a false start (it seemed the A/C wouldn't work so we switched cars), then we overcame the GPS system (the address we had for the Inn, Il Giglio, was not exact enough) and headed toward the leaning tower.  But we only wanted to see it and the area around it is now restricted so off to Montalcino.  Nice drive over somewhat bumpy road; once we arrived, could not drive into town so Steve walked in and found our lovely inn and then we drove in by another route.    Room not  huge (we have # 2 and #1 looks a little better with the balcony we tried to book) but the view is amazing!!

Then out for a bite: Elva had local pici (or pinci) pasta with cinghali (wild boar) morsels and I had polenta with something like short ribs.  We had our first bottle of Brunello, the vino for which Montalcino is famous and did find it very nice,  plumy some complexity, not much acid.  Saved some for dinner.   28 Euros.

Then to honor those in my office on the keto diet, and only to honor them, we forced ourselves to have dessert: the daily special at the top and chocolate suffle.

Then we took a looonnnggg walk to find an ATM and to honor those keto folks once more, had a couple of amazing gelatos--my cioccolato mente was to die for.

Weather is warm but not too hot.   Well, until tomorrow, Ciao!
