Bellissimo Lago Como
We woke up to another beautiful day in Italy. Today was our journey day from Florence to Lake Como (Elva thinks is maybe the most beautiful place in the world). We got off to a good start after breakfast, taxied to Auto Europe and were given a Fiat 500 L, diesel, really a nice car. Finding our way out of Florence was a trip through a maze but we finally "escaped" and it was clear sailing to Milan, listening to worship music. It was suppose to be about a 4 hour trip.
The GPS took us to Lecco (not Como) and then up the backside of the Bellagio penninsula, which we had not driven before: pretty and nice vistas with a really narrow road.
Then we got to Bellagio
and took the ferry to Cadenabbia. Well, our 4 hour trip took more like 5 but was well worth it to see the new vistas.

We arrived at La Marianna and was greeted by Paola and a cold drink. She and Ty look great. Elva started enjoying the balcony right away--one of her "happy benches"! Soon Gary and Peggy and Kevin and CJ and Caleb appeared. Everyone looked great. It is Gary and Peggy's 40th anniversary today but both ours and Paola and Ty's 40th anniversary year too. So we celebrated with a bottle of Altesina Brunello 2012 which is their 40th harvest! Where better than in Italy???
